Beautiful leaf
from a 13th century Friar's Bible. 48 lines of text per column. Text written on fine vellum in dark
brown ink in a remarkably small and fine script. Recto contains 2
columns of text with initials in red and blue. Initials are in
three sizes: 1, 2, and 4 lines. Verso contains 2 columns of
text with alternating red and blue 1 line initials and one 2-line
initial. Text contains portions of G & H from Saint Jerome's
"Interpretation of Hebrew Names" (Liber interpretationis Hebraicorum
nominum).
