Antiphonals were books containing the sung portions of the Divine
Office. The manuscript leaf offered here is large, typical of the
medieval book, so it could be shared by a choir.
Hair side contains 2
bars of music and 7 additional lines of Latin text. Large "O"
opens the piece. Presumably, the scribe meant to decorate or color
the large initial as it is lightly sketched. Flesh side contains
12 lines of Latin text. A large, clean leaf scribed on
vellum.
Size: 576 x 390 mm (approx 22.8 x 16.0 inches).
