Leaf from a 15th Century German Diurnal (c. 1450)

Detail.  Additional images below.

A bright leaf from a 15th century German Diurnal.  Recto and Verso contain two columns of text each containing 28 lines written in a fine bātarde script with black ink and red rubrics.  Double line capitals written in alternating red and blue ink. A lovely, bright leaf.

Diurnals are scripture used in the Divine Office containing only daytime offices (hours of lauds, prime, terce, sext, none, and vespers).  The nighttime counterpart is the "Nocturnal."
