A bright leaf from a 15th century German
Diurnal. Recto and Verso contain two columns of text each
containing 28 lines written in a fine bātarde
script with black ink and red rubrics. Initials written in
alternating red and blue ink. A lovely, bright leaf.
Diurnals are scripture used in the Divine Office
containing only daytime offices (hours of lauds, prime, terce, sext,
non, and vespers). The nighttime counterpart is the "Nocturnal."
