Grand, vivid initial "R" cutting
from a 16th century Italian antiphonal. This vibrant initial is from an antiphonal, painted on
parchment. The illuminator used bright
blues, pinks, greens reds, browns, and white tracery in creating this
magnificent initial with a twirling floral design that creates the
illusion of the initial actually moving forward! The cutting is
mounted on beautifully textured rice paper, that adds to the
dimensionality of the piece. A truly breathtaking initial in fine
condition.
