Leaf with ¾ border from a 15th century Book of Hours presenting an excerpt from the Hours of the Virgin. 15 lines of text on each side written in a neat gothic script in black ink with red rubrics on vellum. Verso: Grand 4-line initial “C” begins "Converte" (restore) painted in blue with pink & blue intricate floral design from a swirling vine on a rich, gold border. Additional 2 line initial “D” painted in gold on a blue background with a red interior and white vine-tracery. 4 single line initials in alternating blue and red. Vine theme extends to borders with gold leaves, and pink and blue flowers stemming from the swirling vines. Recto: 2 double-line initials painted in gold on a blue & pink background with white tracery. Border extends from the two initials on the left side of the leaf. A remarkable leaf with a stunning initial!

Restore us, O God our saviour: And let thy anger cease from us. O God come to my assistance; O Lord, make haste to help me. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost (English translation).
