Initial with Embedded Miniature from a 15th Century Italian Antiphonal

Cutting
from a 15th century Italian antiphonal page. Bottom of cutting
contains a large initial "G" painted in pink with a green & yellow
flower. Embedded within the initial are two saints dressed in red
robes with gold trim and prominent golden halos. The saints are
painted upon a blue background. The initial rests on a gold
border. Above the initial is a magnificent flower richly painted
in blue and mauve. Above the flower two red lines of music are
visible. The miniature is especially luminous and exceptionally
bright and clean.
Framed in a lovely gold frame with elevated matting and UV protected
glass.
