Antiphonals were books containing the sung portions of the Divine
Office. The manuscript leaf offered here is large, typical of the
medieval book, so it could be shared by a choir.
16th century antiphonal leaf containing 6 bars of music on each side on red 5 line staves with square music notations. Text in Latin written in black ink with red rubrics in a gothic script. Verso contains large initial. Distinct hair and flesh sides. Size: 495 x 362 mm (approx 19.5x 14.3 inches).
