Manuscript leaf from a
15th century French Book of Hours featuring the Litany of Saints.
16 lines of text on each side written in a gothic script. 28
single line initials painted in alternating gold or blue on a red
background with penwork extending from the initials forming delicate
border. 10 line fillers (some elaborately completed).
Borders on both sides with red and blue flowers and blue and gold
acanthus leaves. Background of border alternates between gold and
white forming a lovely pattern. There is some minor smudging recto which
does not affect the text.
Verso contains some minor staining to the lower blank border.
Overall, a beautiful leaf!
