Lovely December calendar leaf from a 15th century French Book
of Hours on vellum. Bright border on three sides of recto
featuring large bright red, blue,green, and pink acanthus leaves,
thistles, flowers and illuminated gold leaves. Large initials open the page in burnished gold, red and blue, and white
tracery. Calendar presents saints' days for December. The
text is written in a gothic script in black ink with important saints' days
written in red. Leaf is in excellent
