Detail. Additional images below.	Lovely calendar leaf from a late 15th century French Book of Hours on vellum. Vivid border on both sides featuring red and white roses and blue and pink flowers emanating from bold red, blue, and white acanthus leaves on a thickly painted brilliant gold background. Large initials open each page in burnished gold, red and blue, and white tracery. Calendar presents saints' days for May and June. The text is written in a dark brown script with important saints' days written in red. Also red rubrics. Leaf is in excellent condition with only slight discoloration to vellum in corner. Minor repair on corner. A wonderful leaf featuring difficult to obtain calendar. Size: 171 x 118 mm (approx. 6.8 x 4.7 inches) $725. #IMC5212 Frame available for this item.
